Every Child Matters Policy Document
Creating a pop video and making of documentary for delivery of consultation document at seminar on 9th November 2005. Impact over 150 young people in Oldham aged 6 – 18.
Managing Change – OD Deaprtment
The project was to provide training for council employees using forum theatre based on SSDP managing change issues. Impact over 250 OMBC employees from all departments.
Out of Schools Clubs Forum Theatre
Research, write and perform using forum theatre to target ‘Out of Schools Club’ sector as part of a one day seminar to be held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham. Impact over 100 delegates involved in out of school care.
Inset training: Creative Writing through Drama
The project has brought together teachers from 5 schools and approximately 70 staff members to work on drama skills with particular reference to story writing diaries and creative writing. The staff were provided with the tools in order to enhance creative writing using drama techniques. Impacts 70 Primary schools teachers in Oldham.
Inset Training: Creative Drama
The follow-up programme has enabled teachers to put the tools they have learnt from their original inset training into practice through a workshop involving the young children. This enabled the practical drama and devising skills to develop story telling and story writing techniques, and to gain practical insight of running workshop sessions within the class structure. Impacts15 Primary Schools, involving over 150 young people aged 7 – 10.
South Chadderton & Kaskenmoor School Enrichment Programme
The project has developed a drama programme within the enrichment sessions on Wednesday afternoons. South Chadderton School has initially worked with circus skills and drama. Whereas Kaskenmoor and New Bridge have worked together on Drama. Impacts 80 Young people aged 11 – 16.
Homelessness Intervention Theatre
To provide an arena for questions and debate on the subject of homelessness to schools and community groups in the Oldham Metropolitan area by use of Applied techniques. Impacts over 500 young people from 6 secondary schools/
“When the lights come on again”
Workshops based on performance of ‘When the Lights Come on Again’ with emphasis on evacuees and World War 11. Impacts over 200 young people from 6 primary schools/
South Chadderton Youth Parliament
The project has use Forum Theatre to establish conflict resolution and consultation issues within youth Parliament setting. Discussion based role-play activities and hot seating. Development of improvisation for role-play basis. Impacts 30 young people from South Chadderton School aged 11 – 16.
Failsworth Significant Arts Days
Creation and facilitation of workshop sessions in Bollywood dance, stomp, mask-making, puppetry and drama. Impacts over 350 young people aged 11 – 16 from Failsworth School.
Newbridge Arts College Launch
Creation and facilitation of workshop sessions in Musical set design, storytelling and drama. Impacts over 200 young people aged 11 – 18 from Newbridge School.
‘Kiss my Butt’ Anti Smoking Piece
Workshop and performance project that helps to re-enforce the anti smoking message using a range of practical exercises and solid facts. Impacts over 1000 young people aged 11 - 16.
GMVCO Forum Theatre
2 sessions were presented as part of a service user consultation event held in Manchester. The piece focused on a discussion based forum. This showed how certain decisions made affected the outcome of people’s lives and how GMVCO could be used as an advisory service as well as an active part of people’s lives. Impacts over 100 service users from across Greater Manchester.
Bollywood Fusion
To create a Bollywood style movie using young people from the area with traditional themes and stories but also new culture influences Impacts over 200 young people aged 6 – 18.
South Chadderton School Easter Workshop
A series of arts based activities in South Chadderton School during the Easter holidays. Impacts 20 young people from Chadderton area aged 10 – 16.
Social services Outreach Circus Skills
The project brought together 9 participants, age range between 10 and 15 years. Oldham Theatre Workshop worked in conjunction with social services to provide these workshops and a basic performance element. The group learnt basic circus skills including juggling, Diablo, plates spinning, unicycling and clowning techniques. Impacts 12 Young people from Oldham area aged 12 – 16.
“When the lights come on again”
Performance of new devised World War 2 Drama piece Impacts over 300 people from Oldham area.
Splinters Training Theatre Company
Producing an entertaining piece of Street Theatre and performing it at 3 very different venues in 3 different countries. Impacts 9 Young people from Oldham.
Crossing International Boundaries
Crossing International Boundaries is a British Council “Youth Connect” funded project. The project will give young people from two Northwest Youth Theatres the opportunity to work for one week in Finland with Teaterbiten, a Finnish Youth Theatre company in Vaasa. Impacts 10 Young people from Oldham and Rochdale aged 15 – 18.
Crossing Boundaries
Crossing Boundaries is an Arts Council/AGMA funded project that brings together young people from Northwest Youth Theatres to take part in the creation and performance of a new piece of theatre. The theme of this work is ‘Integration’ and the young people involved will work with a team of professional arts workers to produce a thought provoking and challenging piece of contemporary theatre. Impacts 30 young people from Oldham, Rochdale, Bolton, Tameside, Salford and Wigan.
Arts Award
The Arts Award is a new accreditation which supports young artists and young arts leaders and leads to qualifications at level 1, 2 and 3. The Arts Award is the first award scheme to recognise the development of young artists and young arts leaders. The Arts Award celebrates the creative progress made by young people and not just their artistic skill. Impacts 10 young people from Oldham Theatre Workshop and M6 Rochdale.
